Rankings

Rankings shows stored positions. Opening this tab does not call Serper or DataForSEO and does not spend the rank budget. Home also links here and shows Search Console connection status.

How tracking works

A server scheduler (not page load) stores one snapshot per tracked keyword around 6:00 AM in the store timezone: map pack rank, local organic position, URL found, and source, next to Search Console metrics when connected. DataForSEO uses serp/google/organic/live/advanced at depth 20 from the store's resolved location. Check now runs the same job, limited to once a day, and counts as that day's run. Rankings shows last run, next run, and a per-store Daily rank check toggle (on by default). Invenio never scrapes Google results pages. Drop alerts still fire when a keyword falls 3 or more places. Calls skip and log when the shared DataForSEO cap is hit.

SERP providers, if configured on the host:

  • Serper (SERPER_API_KEY)
  • DataForSEO (DATAFORSEO_LOGIN and DATAFORSEO_PASSWORD)

Whichever is set is used. If neither is set, the daily job skips SERP calls.

Monthly rank budget

Each store has a monthly rank-check budget. The default is $30. The page shows:

  • The SERP provider
  • Estimated cost of the next daily run
  • Spent, remaining, and cap for this month

Save a new cap under Monthly rank budget (USD). The job stops when the cap is reached.

Typical provider costs used in estimates: about $0.01 per keyword for Serper and about $0.02 for DataForSEO.

Search Console

See Search Console. When connected, Rankings shows clicks, impressions, and average position for this month. Connect spends no credits. Invenio matches the store's primary domain to a Search Console property. If none match, pick one from the dropdown. Change property is always available after connect.

Movers, alerts, keywords, competitors

  • Movers. Keywords that went up or down between stored snapshots.
  • Drop alerts. A drop of 3 or more places. Open Re-write opens the matching product, collection, or Blogs page and spends no credits.
  • Keywords. Position, trend (needs two daily snapshots), and a re-write link.
  • Competitors. Top result pages from the latest snapshot, with word count, headings, and key terms from a light crawler (robots.txt, rate limits, timeouts).

The monthly report uses these stored numbers when they exist. It invents nothing.

Keywords show map pack rank (from Maps at the store location) and local organic rank. Generated blog posts and local pages are tracked as keyword rows. Improve this page opens Re-write. Write new post for this keyword opens Blogs with that topic. Check rank now stores today's local ranks. A trend chart needs two saved checks on different days.

Local competitors on this page are map pack businesses only. Wikipedia, directories, and listings outside the store area are filtered out.

Map pack grid

For each target keyword, Check map grid runs DataForSEO Maps live from a grid of coordinates around the store (geocoded from the street address or resolved location). Default is 5x5 at about 1 mile. You can save 3x3, 5x5, or 7x7 and the spacing. The page shows the estimated cost before you run (cells times $0.002). Check map grid is limited to once a week per keyword and uses the DataForSEO monthly cap.

A heatmap (colored cells with rank numbers) sits on an OpenStreetMap map. Average rank and history are stored. Opening Rankings does not run the grid.
